Weird Scholarships

Many students think that they have little to no chance of ever winning a scholarship. However, not all scholarships are reserved for star athletes and valedictorians. There are scholarships for every kind of student. Many scholarships are reserved for students with unusual qualities or talents. These awards are sometimes known as weird scholarships.

Types of Weird Scholarships

Weird scholarships are awarded to students for a variety of different reasons. There arescholarships for left-handed students, scholarships for students who excel in duck calling, and scholarships for students who play the tuba. Some of these more unique scholarships include:
  • National Candy Technologist Scholarship
  • Tall Clubs International Student Scholarship
  • The Vegetarian Resource Group College Scholarship
Many weird scholarships are not awarded because of a characteristic or interest, but rather because of the outcome of a contest. These contests include the Duct Tape Prom Dress Competition or the National Beef Ambassador Program.

Winning a Weird Scholarship

The chances of winning a weird scholarship are usually increased due to small applicant pools. The fewer people who know about or qualify for a scholarship, the less competition there will be. If you qualify for a scholarship of this nature, take the time to apply because you could be exactly what the scholarship committee is looking for.
